July 12, 2003--Briess Ingredients Company is now Briess Malt & Ingredients Company, a
division of Briess Industries, Inc. headquartered in Chilton, Wisconsin. The new
name combines Briess Ingredients Company and a second division, Briess Malting
Company, into one.
"The name more accurately reflects who we are and what we do," explained Rick
Young, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "This company entered the malting
business more than 125 years ago and quickly became a leading supplier of malt
to the brewing industry. Today, the company employs multiple all-natural grain
processes to produce whole grain nutritive sweeteners, malted barley extract,
malted barley flours, instantized grains, and toasted grains for many
applications by food manufacturers. Briess remains a trusted supplier of malt to
the brewing industry, being the leading producer of specialty malts to the
brewing industry in North America. "
"Our new logo incorporates our new name to clearly demonstrate that we have
effectively melded our malting and industrial ingredients experience under one
roof," Young continued. "That means increased flexibility, responsiveness and
service for our customers, many of whom rely upon us for custom product
development. Our experience and energy in developing specialty malts and all
natural, healthy grain ingredients is a vital component of our business."
The traditional art of malting barley remains the heart of Briess Malt &
Ingredients Company. This all-natural process transforms raw barley into malted
barley, a basic ingredient necessary in the production of beer. Malt, in various
forms, also has excellent applications in many foods including baked goods,
energy and nutrition bars, bagels, granola, cereal, ice cream, confectionery,
cookies, muffins and more. Whole grain nutritive sweeteners including malted
barley extract as well as malted barley flour and malted barley flakes, enhance
the wholesome appeal of foods, while adding nutritive value, flavor, color,
texture, and eye appeal.
