Now a registered trademark of Briess Industries, Inc., the word "Maltoferm" was first used by Rudolf Briess, son of company founder Ignatius Briess, in the late 1800s to market malt extracts which were produced at the family's Czechoslovakian malthouse. The extracts were exported to bakeries throughout the world.
