In 2002 Briess commissioned a fully automated extraction plant that today is FPA SAFE-Audit Certified for the production of natural sweeteners including malt extracts, malted milk powder, brown rice syrups and solids, tapioca syrups and solids, and white sorghum syrup. This modern facility also produces tapioca maltodextrins, and is certified to produce organic ingredients. Because Briess produces both malt and malt extract, it ranks as the only vertically integrated malting company in North America.
