In 2002 Briess commissioned a fully automated, audited food-grade extraction plant for the production of natural sweeteners. Lines of natural sweeteners produced by Briess include malt extracts, malted milk powder, tapioca syrups and solids, and white sorghum syrup. This modern facility also produces tapioca maltodextrins, and is certified to produce organic ingredients. Because Briess produces both malt and malt extract, it ranks as the only vertically integrated malting company in North America.
