By intensely roasting malt using very high heat we produce Black Malt. Black Malt is pure malted barley frequently used to adjust the color of beers ranging from very light beers (light American lagers) that benefit from a hint of color to the darkest porters and stouts. Likewise, foods and beverages can benefits for color delivered by Black Malt. When ground into flour, Black Malt Flour successfully color adjusts baked goods like crackers, cookies, dark breads and baked snacks. In order to deliver this natural source of color in a liquid form, we further and minimally process Black Malt into Black Malt Extract. Produced as both a thick liquid and dried into free-flowing powder, Black Malt Extract is dilutable and is used to naturally adjust color in a wide variety of foods and beverages. Because Black Malt Extract is 100% pure malted barley, it delivers natural color to help manufacturer attain claims like "no artificial colors". When used in small quantities, Black Malt Extract adds no flavor to finished products.
